Queen Creek, Arizona is a town of approximately 33,649 people in Maricopa and Pinal Counties at the foot of the San Tan Mountains. The area was a farming community known in the past as Rittenhouse after the railroad spur near Rittenhouse and Ellsworth roads. The community continued to grow, but the use of the railroad stopped, and the community decided to change its name to Queen Creek, after the creek that came from the nearby mountains, through Queen Creek Canyon, and into the town. Queen Creek was incorporated in 1989 and has become a planned community geared for growth.
This beautiful area can be enjoyed by many. The San Tan Mountain Regional Park offers tours of the scenic desert that are educational with different levels of difficulty. The Queen Creek Olive Mill is a working farm and olive mill. On over 100 acres, the family-owned farm has over 7,000 olive trees. Visitors can experience the process of pressing olives for oil as well as tour the trees at different times in the season. Another family-owned farm is the Schnepf Farms, known locally for the Fall Pumpkin Festival, as well as peaches you pick yourselves. They’ve added a country store, petting zoo, train rides and other fun things for the family to take part in. The Horseshoe Park and Equestrian Centre is home to many organizations, and give plenty of opportunity for both Western and English events.
The real estate in this growing area reflects the change from rural farms to suburban development. You will find older homes as well as newer homes. You will see ranch style as well as multi-level luxury homes. Homes average three to five bedrooms and are on well-cared lots. Queen Creek has minimal crime, and this small town has a family-friendly atmosphere with the many parks for family outings, the festivals and community events. As more housing development continues to take place, there are new shopping centers and restaurants going up as well. When you add the suburban feel to the local amenities, and the proximity to larger communities, this is a must consider destination for home buyers searching in the Phoenix area.
